Two months ago, pageant enthusiasts made their fearless forecasts that Miss Universe Philippines 2022 title would be a battle of 2 former beauty queens from NCR’s 2 tiger cities: Miss Philippines Earth 2017 Celeste Cortesi representing Pasay City, and Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Dee from Makati City.
Eventually, the two were the last uniquely beautiful women standing with Cortesi who grabbed the crown and Dee, who was awarded Miss Universe Philippines Tourism. They were joined by other winners who made it to the top 5: Miss Bohol Pauline Cucharo Amelinckx (Miss Universe Philippines-Charity); Miss Misamis Oriental Annabelle McDonnel (First Runner Up); and Miss Taguig Katrina Llegado (Second Runner-Up).
During the final Question and Answer portion, host Pia Wurtzbach asked the 24 year old from Pasay, “If you could stop time for a day, how would you spend it?”. Cortesi smartly replied a winning answer straight from her heart “If I could stop time, I would spend it with my family especially with my mother. It’s been two years I didn’t see my family because they live in Italy and I came here in the Philippines just by myself. So if I had the chance to spend one day I would definitely be with my mom and I would tell her how much I love her and miss her”. Her answer gained a loud cheer from the audience especially that we are celebrating Mother’s Day.
Miss Universe Philippines finally able to stage their coronation night with extremely live audience and uniquely beautiful viewing experience powered by PLDT after pageant’s virtual coronation for the past 2 editions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
