12th World Autism Awareness Day with Bb Pilipinas Candidates

Ken Chan, Bb Pilipinas Candidates headline 'Big Dome lights Blue'

TV actor Ken Chan and the official candidates of Binibining Pilipinas 2019 led Araneta Center's celebration of the 12th World Autism Awareness Day on Tuesday, April 2 , at the Smart Araneta Coliseum's main entrance.

For the third straight year, thec iconic Big Dome was illuminated with blue lights as Araneta Center's way of raising awareness and promoting acceptance and appreciation for the people living with autism. The Smart Araneta Coliseum thus joins the list of world landmarks that have been lit blue on April 2, including the Empire State Building in New York City, the Taipei 101 in Taiwan, and the Niagara Falls in the US- Canada border, among many others.

Chan just recently wrapped up filming the TV series "My Special Tatay" , which saw him portray the role of Boyet, a young father who has mild autism. Since taking on the role and especially after seeing people's reaction to it, Chan now hopes to be able to lend his voice to people living with autism. This event is a perfect avenue for him to help spread awareness and the message of acceptance and appreciation to his followers and attendees.

The Bb Pilipinas candidates , on the other hand, took a break from their busy schedules in their quest for the six crowns up for grabs to spend time with children's with autism from Open Hand School. The lovely ladies each have their own advocacies coming into the competition, but participating in events like this with the BPCI only reinforces the idea that the new breed of Binibinis, like their predecessors, indeed have more to offer beyond beauty.
