SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION - It was a back-to-back win for the municipality of Sudipen as Divina Marie Villanueva was crowned Mutia ti La Union 2020 in a star-studded finals night held March 2 at Poro Point Baywalk.
She edged out 19 other candidates to become La Union's ambassadress for its agri-tourism program. She received the crown from last year’s winner Anne Margareth Sanglay and guest judge Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray. Villanueva, an aspiring CPA-lawyer, also took home a number of special awards including Mutia Fashion Model, Best in Agri-Tourism Campaign, and Best in Socio-Economic Activities.
Fe Ladyma Abacco of Rosario was named Mutia ti La Union 2020 Turismo, while Pugo's Shaira May Soria won Mutia ti La Union 2020 Agrikultura. Balaoan's Cristine Jan Padua and San Fernando's Roxanne Danielle Sanglay finished first and second runners-up, respectively.
Shamcey Supsup-Lee, Miss Universe Philippines national director and Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up, sat as one of the judges alongside Gray. Maria Venus Raj, Miss Universe 2010 fourth runner-up co-hosted the coronation night with TV personalities Billy Crawford and Robi Domingo.
Mutia ti La Union is part of the province's celebration of its 170th founding anniversary.
