The Miss Universe Competition officially starts in PH with grand kickoff event introducing initial batch of 11 candidates
The Miss Universe Competition has just officially started with a traditional kick-off event held Saturday at the S Maison Mall in Conrad Hotel at the Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay.
Organized by the LCS Group and Solar Entertainment Corporation, the event's major highlights included a ceremonial walk and speech by reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach, the introduction of 11 of this year's candidates, as well as welcome speeches by Miss Universe Organization President Paula Mary Shugart and Solar's President and CEO Wilson Tieng.
Flown in from different parts of the globe to attend the kick-off event, as well as the other official activities in select locations during their five-day stay in the Philippines , the candidates intriduced at the event are Miss USA Deshauna Barber; Miss China Li Zhenying; Miss Japan Sari Nakazawa; Miss Australia Caris Emily Tiivel; Miss New Zealand Tania Pauline Dawson; Miss Korea Jenny Kim; Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane; Miss Malaysia KIran Jassal; Miss Vietnam Dang Thi Le Hang; Miss Indonesia Kezia Roslin Warouw; and Miss Myanmar Htet Htet Htun.
Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina joined the visiting candidates and will be with them as well in their week-long pageant related activities in the country, including a tour around Cebu which will host the pageant's swimwear presentation.
